Fr. Bob Sprott, OFM

Fr. Bob Sprott, a Franciscan priest, is the administrator of St. James as of July 1, 2014. He is also the administrator of St. Mary Magdalene Church in the South Chicago neighborhood.

A priest for thirty-four years, Fr. Bob has worked in Native American and Hispanic parishes in New Mexico and Arizona. He spent three years with the missionary diocese of Churchill-Hudson Bay in the Canadian arctic, and two years working with the Benedictines of Marmion Abbey in Aurora, IL at their mission in Guatemala. In the Archdiocese of Chicago, he has worked at St. Peter's in the Loop, at St. Agnes of Bohemia in Little Village, and at St. Victor in Calumet City.

Br. Christopher Buck, FSC

Brother Christopher Buck, FSC was born in Chicago and grew up on the North Side. He attended Our Lady of Lourdes Grade School and Graduated from Saint George High School in Evanston. In 1960 he joined the Brothers of the Christian Schools. Br Chris received his undergraduate education at CBC College in Memphis and Saint Mary’s College in Winona Minnesota and as a graduate student, studied at Notre Dame University. Brother taught Religion and Mathematics at Roncalli High School in Aurora, Gabriel’s High School in Lansing Michigan, Drriscoll High School in Addison Illinois, and Saint Joseph High School in Westchester Illinois. While at Saint Joseph, he became the manager of the Business Office. Br Chris is now retired, living near De La Salle High School and spending his time as part time bookkeeper at Saint James and volunteering at the Illinois Railway Museum. Br Chris is happiest when riding a train with his brother Dan.

Michael Maher

Director of Campus Ministry and Evangelization

Michael Maher joined the staff of St. James in June 2013. He works with campus ministry programs, children’s programs, and the Evangelization Board. Michael is originally from Kansas City, where he began his career as a lay minister in 1989. He came to Chicago in 1996 as a campus minister at Loyola University. He attended college at the University of Kansas, St. Meinrad Seminary, Loyola University Chicago, and Saint Louis University.

Cathy Moore

Food Pantry Coordinator and Office Manager

Cathy Moore served seven years on and off as a volunteer for St. James Food Pantry before coming on as staff as Pantry Coordinator in December 2005. She has a heart, love, and passion for St. James Food Pantry and its wonderful clients, knowing that it is a gift from God to be able to work for both

Cathy has lived most of her life on Chicago's South Side. She loves plants and waterfalls, math, and working with people. She is the mother of three wonderful children.

Dan Murphy

Director of Music and Liturgy

Dan comes to us from Cleveland, Ohio where he worked as a church musician and private piano instructor. He has been a professional musician since 1995, working as a musician for Walt Disney Entertainment, Princess Cruises, and touring extensively with the Glenn Miller Orchestra. Most recently, Dan has worked as a freelance jazz pianist accompanying jazz singers, playing in small and large instrumental jazz bands. He has performed with groups in a wide variety of musical styles including: jazz, Afro-Cuban, Brazillian pop/jazz, rock, pop, and gospel. Dan holds a Master's Degree in Jazz Studies from Youngstown State University and Bachelor of Music degree in Jazz Studies from The Univeristy of Akron where he also studied pipe organ.

Peter Wawire

Director of Social Care

Peter Wawire joined the St. James Parish Staff in November of 2007. He hailes from Kenya, East Africa. Before coming to the United States, Peter was with the Mill Hill Missionaries. As a student in formation, he served in social and spiritual ministries in Kenya and Uganda

He came to the United States in August of 2005 to pursue graduate studies. Peter holds a Bachelors degree in Social Sciences from Uganda Martyrts University in Uganda and a Masters in Ethics from Catholic Theological Union at Chicago. He oversees St. James Social Care and looks for resourcesto support its programs.
