The book of Acts tells of a speech given by Gamaliel. A little later in the book we find out that Gamaliel was the teacher of a young man from Tarsus named Saul, who eventually became St. Paul. All of which serves to remind us of those who have been our teachers along the way. It is often a teacher who awakens in us a desire to learn, to become better, to improve. We owe our teachers a great deal since they helped us to become who we are today. It serves as a reminder for us to pay it forward. While not many of us are in the classroom we still are obliged to “teach,” to pass on, the values which we inherited.
