Sunday School for Children
Sunday School sessions are 10:45am-11:15am, late September through Easter. There are three classes: 2nd and 3rd graders; 4th, 5th, and 6th graders; 7th and 8th graders. First Communion, First Reconciliation, and Confirmation are celebrated every two years. Preparation is handled through Sunday School. In addition to Sunday School, we have children’s liturgy of the word at the 9:30am Sunday Mass. “Kids’ Word” is a way for children to more deeply understand the scriptures. Children are welcome to join in the interactive reflection in a classroom while the scriptures and sermon are presented in the hall.
From time to time, Fr. John offers three-week Bible studies on Mondays. There are two "sections" to pick from, 1pm-2:30pm or 7pm-8:30pm. The classes are held in the rectory.
Adult Confirmation Classes and RCIA
Are you a Catholic who never received the Sacrament of Confirmation? Are you a Catholic who has been away from the Church and would like to reconnect? Are you interested in becoming a Catholic? The sessions run 16 October 2016 through 30 April 2017. Sessions are held at St. James (2912 S. Wabash), 10:45-11:45am on Sundays, following the 9:30am Mass.
Retreats for All Adults
We offer two or more single-day retreats each year for all our Parishioners and friends. We keep these at a reasonable price. One is held each year in the fall and one in the season of Lent. These are great ways to nourish your spirituality and to become more a part of the St. James Community.
Campus Ministry Retreats
Campus Ministry holds several single-day retreats throughout the year. Cost is kept reasonable. Students spend time in reflection and getting to know each other.
Throughout the year, we have special programs that help us deepen our understanding of our faith and its role in society.
We are doing a number of things to welcome in a special way the Chinese community, in the neighborhood and on campus.
We will be celebrating Rev. Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Day 2017 through service and reflection. MLK Event 2017 Registration

Infant Baptismal Preparation
When an infant is baptized, the parents and godparents need to have a preparation class that lasts a little over an hour. At St. James, we offer these as needed. If they have had the preparation in the last two years, they do not need to repeat it.
