“We should not stay away from our assembly.” There is a strange consolation that people not coming to Church is not a new phenomenon but existed from the very beginning. This is important, the author of the Hebrews asserts, because “we must consider how to rouse one another to love and good works.” Faith is not something merely between me and Jesus. We only live the faith with one another. Jesus sent out the disciples two by two to illustrate this Biblical truth. We “rouse one another to love” particularly in forgiving and being forgiven. We will inevitably rub up against each other and our charity becomes a concrete reality in the experience of loving those who have offended us or who we have offended.
