Jesus did not leave us a list like the Ten Commandments of “dos” and “don’ts.” However, there are scattered throughout the gospels commands that the Lord did leave. They can come as a surprise. For example, we find one of the commandments of Jesus in the Sermon on the Mount. “Do not worry about tomorrow; tomorrow will take care of itself.” Or to put it in commandment form: Thou shalt not worry. The commandment of Jesus is not an ethical or a moral command but rather a radical commitment to trust in God. Instead of providing us with a prescription of behavior Jesus leaves us a description of attitude. We are commanded to be worry free because the love of God has been promised us.
