The daily readings for the next days tells the saga of Abraham (Genesis 12-25). Abraham is considered the Father of three faiths (Judaism, Christianity and Islam). The story starts with the call of God to Abram (as he was then known) to “Go forth from the land of your kinsfolk and from your father’s house to a land that I will show you.” That is how faith begins — going forth from the known and the familiar into the new place of God. What Abram discovers is that when you move when God wants you to be you are changed, you are different. If we find ourselves stuck in the “same old, same old” God calls us to a “new land” characterized by forgiveness, generosity and love.
