The question that the Apostle Jude asked Jesus seems a very legitimate one: “Master, then what happened that you will reveal yourself to us and not to the world?” Instead of a straight answer Jesus gives a reflection on the relationship of the Father, Son and Holy Spirit. I wonder if Jude felt frustrated by the lack of a direct response. But isn’t that often how our dealings with God go? We ask in prayer about one problem and are directed toward another. Maybe this pattern is meant to remind us that we are all connected in ways that our beyond our ken. God keeps shifting the focus off of our own worries and obsessions to see that the divine presence permeates everything.
