There is a poignant exchange between Jesus and the blind beggar on the road to Jericho. Jesus asked him, “What do you want me to do for you?” He replied, “Lord, please let me see.” You can understand the request that the blind man made. I can’t help but wonder what would have happened if he had asked for something a bigger than his person problem. “Lord, please help all of the beggars in Jericho.” What would Jesus have done? When we look at our own prayer we find the same tendency to ask the Lord to take care of our particular problems. And Jesus does respond to those requests. My guess is that Jesus would love to respond to more expansive requests as well.
