You can hear the compassion behind the words of Jesus to the blind man: “What do you want me to do for you?” But I wonder if Jesus was just a tad disappointed that the blind man replied: “Lord, please let me see.” It seems too little a request in one sense. Imagine how you would respond if Jesus said to you, “What do you want me to do for you?” Would you request something personal, like the blind man did, or would you ask for something for your family or circle of friends? The fact is Jesus does pose that question to us every day. In prayer we have the opportunity to include an entire array of cares under the banner of Jesus’ power.
