The readings for the fifty days of Easter are designed to help us understand Resurrection Life which the Bible describes as life in the Spirit. The first reading is taken from the Acts of the Apostles where we see how different those followers of Jesus were after they received the Spirit. In the encounter with Nicodemus Jesus uses the analogy of the wind for the Spirit: The wind blows where it wills, and you can hear the sound it makes, but you do not know where it comes from or where it goes. The Spirit is not limited by institutional concerns but can be found even in unexpected people. Just look for the signs of the Spirit: love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, generosity, gentleness, hope.
