The resurrection stories recorded in the Gospel are all over the place because each Gospel writer tells us about the Risen Jesus to bring their particular communities to faith. One tradition shifts the focus off of the events in Jerusalem and onto Galilee. When Jesus appeared to Mary Magdalene and the other Mary he said, “Go tell my brothers to go to Galilee, and there they will see me.” Galilee is, of course, the place where they first met Jesus, the place where they had the first inklings of faith. Perhaps that is an invitation to us during this Easter Season like no other to go back to our first love. Let us recall our initial response to being Catholic to guide our current response.
