The Bible proclaims Jesus as the Universal Savior. That raises a question: how are those who are not explicitly Christian saved? Jesus told Nicodemus, “God did not send his Son into the world to condemn the world,
but that the world might be saved through him.” We do not save ourselves by putting our names on the roll call of Christians. It is the grace of Christ before we do anything that saves us. The Son of God can find a way to save even those who don’t acknowledge, or even know about, Jesus. We see the grace of God at work in them when they walk in the light of compassion, generosity, forgiveness. Jesus put it: whoever lives the truth comes to the light.
