“These are uneducated, ordinary men.” That was the reaction of the authorities to the initial preaching of the apostles. And it was true! In the plan of God it was not the movers and the shakers who were going to change the world but Joe Six-pack (or maybe Joe Wine-sack?) That is still the plan of God. Yes, it is great that there are leaders like Pope Francis and Archbishop Cupich. And we do benefit from the pastors and professors. But for real change to come, for the gospel to have a real impact in our community, it is going to be the “uneducated, ordinary” men and women sharing their faith in their homes, their work places, their schools, their gyms, their ball fields that is required.
