In the days and weeks after Easter we read from the Acts of the Apostles. These stories tell us that the Resurrection of Jesus was not something that only transformed him. His followers, the apostles and disciples, were transformed as well at the Resurrection of Jesus. Before the Resurrection they were fear-filled, vacillating, doubting; after, they were bold, confident, forthright. Having passed through the waters of baptism we are Easter people and need to look more like the Resurrection has transformed our way of interacting in the world. One concrete step we can take: heed the word of the Risen Lord and “Be not afraid.” We live in a scary world but the Resurrection assures us that in the end all will be glorious.
