Moses prayed: “Do come along in our company… and receive us as your own.” This prayer occurs after so much has happened — the ten plagues, the escape from Egypt, the passage through the Red Sea, the passage through the desert, repentance after making of the Golden Calf. You would think after that it would be obvious that the Hebrew children are God’s chosen people. Still, Moses made his prayer. Maybe the lesson we should take from that is how important it is to keep renewing our relationship with God. Yes, God is always there for us but we need to build into our lives times of prayer where we can reach out to God and remind ourselves of who we are and whose we are.
