Everyone wants to know how the story comes out. Did the butler do it? Does the boy get the girl? And what exactly is Rosebud? The Bible tells us how the story of creation comes out. God will be all in all and we, the brothers and sisters of Jesus, are invited to eternal life. But we still have to get there which is why Jesus warns us ” that your hearts do not become drowsy.” The Lord knows that “the anxieties of daily life” can distract us from keeping our eye on the prize. As we wind up the Church’s year the scripture invites us to “be vigilant,” to keep alert to the things that really matter and not get lost in the “red herrings.”
