If you recall that your brother has anything against you, leave your gift there at the altar, go first and be reconciled with your brother. When we think about the need for reconciliation it usually makes us remember something we have said or done which hurt someone else. Healing those kinds of wounds are certainly necessary in Christian life. However, remember how surpised the “goats” were in the parable of Jesus? “Lord when did we see you hungry or thirsty or sick or imprisoned or naked and not minister to your needs?” Apparently our brother can have something against us not only for what we do but also for what we fail to do. Sins of omission also need reconciliation. As we continue our Lenten journey let us certainly reach out to those who have hurt by our actions but let us also repent of our inaction toward those who are hurting.
