When you introduce a hero it is customary to provide an “origin story.” Where did Superman get his powers? Why is Batman so dogged in his pursuit of criminals? Who is Wonder Woman? In the Book of Exodus we hear the origin story of one of the great heroes of the Bible, Moses. As so often is the case, the origin story of Moses shows the hero overcoming adversity on the way to meeting his divine destiny. Looking at our own origin story is a good prayer practice. Who were the people who shared their faith with you? What were the circumstances that helped to form you as a person of faith? What adversities did you face to become who you are today?
