Ours is an apostolic faith, a faith proclaimed by the apostles. We have the message of Jesus today because the men and women who were his followers told his story. As the saint of today, our patron, Saint James, illustrates ,the apostles were as limited and flawed as we are. We only get flashes of his personality in the Bible but James seems to have been volatile, violent, pushy and ambitious. Yet God relied on the likes of him to give the world the most important news it would ever receive. Just so with us. God isn’t waiting for us to become perfect but wants us to bring the good news in our world just as we are. We too are called to be apostles.
