Why is my pain continuous, my wound incurable, refusing to be healed? Even a great prophet who had powerful experiences of God from his youth is entitled to a pity party every now and then. All of his efforts to get the people to reform, to avoid the coming threat seem to have come to naught. Jeremiah feels like, since he is doing the will of God, he should have more success. Why don’t the people see what he sees? When I found your words, I devoured them;
they became my joy and the happiness of my heart. Today when we see so many people walking away from Church we can feel the same frustration. We must hear as Jeremiah did: I am with you.
