Besides sacred spaces there is a human need to create sacred times, times when we connect in a particular way to God. The Bible describes the sacred times for the Jewish people. The LORD said to Moses, “These are the festivals of the LORD which you shall celebrate at their proper time with a sacred assembly.” The Jewish faith is founded in history, in the might acts of God toward the chosen people such as the Exodus. The festivals reflect that at a certain moment the Hebrew children became a settled people and they celebrate the blessings of the harvest. Since the destruction of the temple the Jewish feasts are more domestic. In our lives we must carve out some sacred time as well.
