St. Thomas had the right instincts. Genuine faith in Jesus comes when we are willing to touch his wounds. “Unless I see the mark of the nails in his hands
and put my finger into the nail marks and put my hand into his side, I will not believe.” The same is true of us. Our faith in Jesus becomes real when we touch the wounded body of Christ. As the saying goes: no cross, no crown. The wounds are all around us: the hungry and homeless, the sick and lonely, the immigrant and refugee, the abandoned child and the neglected elder, the grief stricken and the guilt-ridden. By touching their pain we come to a genuine encounter with the Risen Lord… like St. Thomas.
