Another of the Jesus commandments: “Thou shalt not judge.” Since human beings judging machines, unpacking what this means becomes important. Think, for example, of how the Bible talks about the destruction of the kingdom of Israel: The LORD warned Israel and Judah by every prophet and seer. The prophets and seers were judging that Israel was on a destructive path and tried to point them in a new direction. That suggests we can judge certain actions and behaviors as not of God but with two corollaries. First, no matter what they are doing everyone is a child of God and needs to be treated with compassion and respect. Second, we must be willing to do a fearless moral inventory of our failures and faults.
