Naaman, the Syrian, was upset that the prophet did not make some kind of dramatic gesture to bring about his cure but he need only wash in the Jordan. He was going to leave in a huff when his servant said, “If the prophet had told you to do something extraordinary, would you not have done it?” He performed the ordinary thing of bathing and was cleansed. That story caused me to think that when people hear they need to have a relationship with Jesus they imagine something extraordinary. But we have a relationship with Jesus as we have other relationships: by getting to know him (reading the Bible), spending time with him (in prayer), helping him (in the least of the brothers and sisters.)
