MAY172016

May 17, 2016 By Church Staff

My brother has a handicapped child. When his wife was expecting their second by law he had to go in for “genetic counselling.” My brother was somewhat belligerent with the counselor. “I love my eldest just the way she is and wouldn’t trade her for anything. I will love this child in the same way.” You take what you get when a child arrives in your family and you love them. That is the message of Jesus in the gospel. The kingdom of God is not about getting, about attaining, about achieving — it is like receiving a child. Whatever God sends our way will be our own particular road to the kingdom.
