They were eating, drinking, buying, selling, planting, building [when] fire and brimstone rained from the sky to destroy them all. So it will be on the day the Son of Man is revealed. Jesus warns us that it is so easy to get caught up in the stuff of daily life that we lose the perspective of eternity. Our hopes are not limited to this life only so we need to be attentive in preparing for the next. An analogy from the secular world — we fret about the price of gas going up even though we know that fossil fuels are contributing to the worsening condition of the planet. In both the spiritual and the secular realm we need to take the long view.
