You are faithful in all you do for the brothers and sisters, especially for strangers; they have testified to your love before the Church. Please help them in a way worthy of God to continue their journey. Welcoming the stranger, treating the alien with compassion are Biblical commands in both the Old and the New Testaments. A curious phenomenon in the United States, a nation of immigrants, is the political movement which is anti-immigrant. There was a cartoon the other day with an immigrant being arrested and his neighbor saying to the official, “I meant those immigrants that I don’t know personally.” What the Bible teaches is that whether we know them or not, everyone we meet, no matter their race, origin, nationality or language, is a child of God and deserving to be treated with respect.
