NOVEMBER202020

November 20, 2020 By Church Staff

Jesus entered the temple area and proceeded to drive out those who were selling things. Jesus driving the “money changers” out of the temple was an important memory for the Church — all four gospel writers report it. The scene is sometimes used to say that it is okay to be angry. However, zeal is not the same as anger. While I was on a retreat the master told us to keep our serenity no matter what. Someone raised the question: but shouldn’t issues of justice stir us to action? Action, yes, said the retreat master, but always from a peaceful place. He quoted from the Gita, “Plunge into the heat of battle and keep your heart at the lotus feet of the Lord.”
