One of the highlights of my life was the opportunity to meet Pope Francis. Yet, when I look at the Gospel for today I feel challenged to look again at what I value. Jesus was criticized because of who he hung around with. “This man welcomes sinners and eats with them.” The Lord responds to that criticism by pointing out that he hangs with those who need him. Certainly, Pope Francis doesn’t need to see me. But the people who come to the Food Pantry, the people who come to the Church office they do benefit from my presence. I feel called to have a more discerning heart so that I can recognize the presence of Christ in the Lost Sheep in my life.
