Paul, a slave of Christ Jesus, called to be an Apostle and set apart for the Gospel of God… Through him we have received the grace of apostleship, for the sake of his name, among all the Gentiles. Paul’s letter to the church at Rome differs from his others. He is writing to a community he did not found and that does not know him. He starts the letter by introducing himself as an apostle, someone who could speak with authority. We live in an age which is distrustful of authorities, but that can create problems. There is a current TV ad where a group of doctors are saying “trust us” and take the vaccine. In Church and society we should heed those who know.
