It is so easy to notice what we don’t have, the losses and griefs, the troubles and difficulties, the looming problems. The gospel wants us to shift that narrative and notice how blessed we are. All the problems in the world pale to insignificance compared with the surpassing grace of God’s presence. And, since we are so blessed, we are called to respond with generosity. “Much will be required of the person entrusted with much, and still more will be demanded of the person entrusted with more.” If we have been forgiven, we must forgive. If we have been loved, we must pass that love along. If we feel a sense of belonging in a caring community, we must invite others into the caring community.
