“Much will be required of the person entrusted with much, and still more will be demanded of the person entrusted with more.” These words of Jesus motivate me. I have been given so much — good health, excellent education. loving family, supportive community, fulfilling vocation — that I feel obliged to serve those who have not been blessed as I have. We can also expand that beyond the personal to include the communal. St. James has been entrusted with so much: a sense of Church as more than a building, a heritage of African-American spirituality, a lived experience of active participation in the liturgy, a mission to care for the needs of our community. Whenever we enter the Renew My Church process we have much to give.
