Back in the day, (WAAAY back in the day), I used to be a youth minister. The group used to role play being in Roman times and brought before the emperor for trial. The Prosecutor would ask: “Is there enough evidence to convict this person of being a Christian.” The evidence brought forth never included that the person attended church or said prayers or knew the catechism. Instead the prosecutor would point out that the accused was charitable toward the needy, was welcoming toward those on the periphery, was forgiving of those who hurt them, was modest in dress and behavior. Jesus said, Every tree is known by its own fruit. What are the fruits of our faith that would be evidence against us?
