“Christ Jesus, though he was in the form of God, did not regard equality with God something to be grasped.” If you think about it, the first sin of Adam and Eve was grasping. They grasped after that apple because the snake told them that after they grasped it, “you will be like gods.” St. Paul reminds us that Jesus is the antidote to sin by not grasping after the divinity which was his by nature. If you think about it, all sins are a repeat of the first — we grasp after this thing, this person, this action because we think it will make us happy. Jesus teaches us to stop grasping and trust that the blessings God bestows upon freely make for happiness.
