The prophet Haggai urged the people to re-build the temple that had been destroyed when Jerusalem was conquered by the Babylonians. They heeded the prophetic message but then were disappointed that the restored temple was not grand and imposing. The prophet asked, “Who is left among you that saw this house in its former glory? And how do you see it now? Does it not seem like nothing in your eyes?” Haggai tells the people, God isn’t finished yet. We too get discouraged living in an era where churches are closing instead of being built. But the message is the same today — God isn’t finished yet. Keep doing work of the gospel and “Greater will be the future glory of this house than the former.”
