The LORD addressed Job out of the storm and said: Have you ever in your lifetime commanded the morning
and shown the dawn its place… Tell me, if you know all: Which is the way to the dwelling place of light, and where is the abode of darkness. According to the Book of Job, after all of the arguing and philosophizing and theologizing, there isn’t any real explanation for innocent suffering. Instead we are invited to contemplate the divine mystery. God who created the universe, who spun the stars, knows how to take care of us as well. We don’t get it because our perspective is, necessarily, time bound, but as an old poem put it, “no doubt the universe is unfolding as it should.”
