Sunday Morning Mass in the Church at 9:30AM (English) and 1:00PM (Spanish).
Our Sunday Masses are joyful expressions of our love for God, incorporating everything from Gregorian Chant to Gospel music. When you come to worship at Saint James, don’t be surprised if someone notices that you are a visitor! Along with excellent liturgy, we also value hospitality.
SPRED Mass
On the first (English) and third (Spanish) Sundays of the month, from September through May, the SPRED community celebrates Mass at St. James. During SPRED Masses you will notice that a few minor adaptations are made such as using soft, simple, repetitive music and SPRED Catechists gesturing to the readings to provide our friends with a visual interpretation of the proclaimed Word. As a community we praise God through song and gesture as we proclaim the responsorial psalm. You will also notice that our friends actively participate throughout the Mass, including during the preparation of the altar and the presentation of the gifts. Everyone is welcome to attend our SPRED Masses and share fellowship afterwards.
Children’s Liturgy of the Word at 9:30AM Sunday Mass
“Kids’ Word” is a way for children to more deeply understand the scriptures. Children are welcome to join in the interactive reflection in a classroom while the scriptures and sermon are presented in the hall.

Taizé Prayer Services
St. James hosts Taizé prayer services in the church on a quarterly basis at 7PM on the second Wednesday of March, June, September and December. Taizé Prayer is a style of worship and music developed at a monastery in Taizé, France. The monastery in this small village is home to an ecumenical community that was founded during the Second World War with the intention of praying for peace, reconciliation and unity. Those same three core values lie at the heart of our Taizé Prayer. Taizé prayer will include simple sung mantras, periods of silence, scripture, light and a time for prayer intentions.
If you wish to have a special intention remembered at Mass, the recommended donation is $10. Please contact Cathy Moore. (312) 842-1919 X211, cmoore@stjameswabash.org
You may write special intentions in the book of intentions at the entry to the hall. These are not read at Mass but are remembered silently. In the month of November, you may write the names of the deceased who you wish to remember in the book of the dead in the entry to the hall.
