During the fifty days of Easter — from now until Pentecost — the first reading for each day is taken from the Acts of the Apostles. The message of the Church: if you want to know the meaning of the Resurrection you can see it in how the followers of Jesus were changed because of it. ACTS initially features Peter bringing the Gospel to the Jewish people and gradually the circle widens to include “the nations” in the preaching of Paul. The consistent theme of ACTS is witness: God raised [Jesus] from the dead; of this we are witnesses. We too are called to be witnesses to the Resurrection in our lives by causing people to say about us: Look how those Christians love one another.
