When Gamaliel advised the Sanhedrin how to deal with the nascent Jesus movement he observed: if this endeavor or this activity is of human origin, it will destroy itself. But if it comes from God, you will not be able to destroy them. The history of the Catholic Church proves the truth of that statement. There is no earthly reason that the Church should have lasted for 2000 years considering all of the flaws, faults, misdeeds, and crimes that have been committed in its name. That it continues to thrive and grow is testimony to the grace which make the Church live. Speculation about the Church after the coronavirus should always factor in the fact that no matter how it looks God will be with us.
