You can sympathize with Peter and the rest of the apostles. After the dramatic events of the past days — the Last Supper, the betrayal in the Garden, the denial, the crucifixion, the empty tomb, then the astonishing experience of the Risen Jesus — they just wanted to get back to normal. “I am going fishing,” Peter said and they all agreed that was a good idea. That is something we knew how to do. However, their experience proved otherwise. They weren’t able to succeed at fishing. It turned out that everything was different after Easter. They needed Jesus even to do the most basic things in their life. That lesson is one we must all learn. With Jesus we can do all things, without him nothing.
