My guess is that many of the people at St. James wonder what was God thinking when our beloved, old Church was torn down. Perhaps the answer can be found in the words of Jesus. “Unless a grain of wheat falls to the ground and dies, it remains just a grain of wheat; but if it dies, it produces much fruit.” It is the plan of God that from death comes new life. The building that nourished the faith of this community has fallen to the ground and died. It is up to us to make sure that that death “produces much fruit.” When we discover what it means of US to be the Church, then the death of our building will be the occasion of grace.
