There was a fun movie a few years ago called Galaxy Quest. Whenever the crew would get it trouble they would shout, “Never give up. Never surrender.” That was Ezekiel’s message as well to a people who had lost homes, country and a place to worship. No matter how dire things seem, even when you’re surrounded by the dry bones of death, God can make a way. Of course, we live in dire times when divisions in the Church, conflict within the country, war between nations, and planet-wide environmental disaster could cause one to despair. The prophetic message is that no matter how things look, God is still at work and the Spirit of God can blow new life even into seemingly lifeless situtations.
