I saw the glory of the God of Israel coming from the east…. I fell prone as the glory of the LORD entered the temple
…. The voice said to me: Son of man, this is where my throne shall be, … here I will dwell among the children of Israel forever. Ezekiel had seen the glory of God depart the temple in Jerusalem on a chariot of flaming wheels to be with the people in exile. Now as exile was ending he saw the glory of God returning to the temple. But the temple had been destroyed and would not be rebuilt for several generations! It was only with the coming of Jesus who was the true temple of God that the prophecy was fulfilled.
