Sometimes you just have a bad day. Things get overwhelming, you fell like you’re carrying more than you can bear, you want the world to just go away. Moses felt that way. I cannot carry all this people by myself, for they are too heavy for me. Jesus felt that way. When Jesus heard of the death of John the Baptist, he withdrew in a boat to a deserted place by himself. We too at times want to just curl in a ball and withdraw from everything. What got Moses and Jesus — and gets us — out of a funk is seeing the needs of others. When he saw the vast crowd, his heart was moved with pity for them. It’s not all about me.
