The Church in Thessalonika seems to have been a favorite of St. Paul. Thus when the community got in an uproar he wanted to offer them some guidance. Apparently when the looked around they saw terrible things in the world and presumed that it was time for God to intervene. (Sound familiar?) We ask you, brothers and sisters … not to be shaken out of your minds suddenly, or to be alarmed. Paul tells them that what God is going to do in God’s time should not be their concern. Rather they should live each day with courage and fidelity and let God be God. Good advice for our time as well. Instead of waiting for divine intervention “seize the day” with kindness, forgiveness and generosity.
