Ours is an apostolic faith. The Book of Revelation talks about the foundation stones of the City of God bearing the name of the apostles. In our creeds we confess our faith as “one, holy, catholic and apostolic.” In fact, we only know about Jesus because of the apostles. He left us no testimony except the change he made in their lives. The irony is, that we know little about the apostles except their names. And even the names are confused at times. For example, in the first three gospels Philip is always associated with Nathaniel. In St. John, Philip companions Bartholomew. Are Nathaniel and Bartholomew the same person? No one knows. We too should be the anonymous apostles bringing Jesus into our daily lives.
