The personality of St. Paul comes through in his letters. He could be assertive, defensive, combative, righteous. He was never reluctant to justify the way he operated. You are witnesses, and so is God, how devoutly and justly and blamelessly we behaved toward you. Actually, you would need that kind of personality to launch yourself the great missionary task of going into the unknown to spread the word. That serves as a reminder that our personality, even parts of ourselves which we don’t necessarily like, can be used by God in bringing the Kingdom into the world. How different were Peter and Paul yet each of them played an essential role in birthing the Church. God will use us just as we are as well.
