For the next weeks the first reading of the day will be taken from St. Paul’s first letter to the Church at Corinth. As we shall read, this was a community going through many growing pains as it tried to adopt a lifestyle which flowed from their Christian faith. He begins the letter saying two things as background for all that is to follow. I give thanks to my God always on your account. The Apostle wants the people of Corinth to know that he is praying for them, that he considers them worthy of all his time and effort. He adds to that thought: God is faithful. No matter how things seem to be going God isn’t finished, God is still loving them.
