AUGUST312024

August 31, 2024 By Church Staff

St. Paul asks the people of Corinth to consider their situation. “God chose the weak of the world to shame the strong.” When we consider our situation in the United States at this moment we find something alarming. We are experiencing a wide-spread mental health crisis. The Surgeon General reported that parents are developing unhealthy levels of stress. According to research 41% of parents attest that their stress gets so severe that they are incapacitated. Nationwide there is a plague of depression and an epidemic of loneliness. Every multi-millionaire athletes are having mental health crises. I recently read a memoir of a young man who could serve as Exhibit A for the state of country and what struck me was that he became so absorbed in his own problems he couldn’t see beyond his own self. When Jesus spoke of the “talents” he was reminding us that to some degree we all have the talent to love. If we give love away, particularly to the lost sheep, we can create a more healthy society.
