Tale of two meals. The Book of Numbers talks about the Hebrew children grumbling because Moses only provided them with manna — how boring. Moses felt put upon. “I cannot carry all this people by myself, for they are too heavy for me.” Moses had to learn that he was not carrying the people, God was. In the Gospel Jesus told the apostles to “give the people something to eat.” Then he multiplied the five loaves and two fish to make it possible. The apostles had to learn that if they provided their little bit God would provide the rest. The lesson for us is to get over the illusion that we have to do it all and instead trust in the plan of God.
